PROJECT DETAILS
New elements to complete the onboarding process include:
-
Splash Screen: When you open the app, you'll be greeted with a friendly and colorful welcome screen.
-
Diagnostics: This screen provides technical information to enhance your experience and troubleshoot issues. You might need to update the app or grant permissions (this is in the pipeline).
-
Login: Securely log in with the option to save your credentials for future convenience.
-
Terms and Conditions: Accept the terms once, and you won't be asked again unless there's an update.
-
Setup: Customize your avatar, set up meeting schedules, and explore tutorials. You can choose between private and public meetings, all searchable by name or code (tutorials are still in progress).
-
Transition: This scene displays the download progress in a familiar environment
For design research, we looked at onboarding processes in apps like ShapesXR, Meta Horizons, and Innerworld.

CHALLENGES & OUTCOMES
Redesigning the onboarding flow was a great design challenge to solve. I gained experience presenting prototypes and product requirements to different teams, implementing feedback, and iterating until the design was simple enough.
Challenges
-
Collaboration with various teams, including R&D, design, development, and executives, involving regular check-ins and feedback.
-
Feedback evolved from verbal to email, Google Docs, and a complex model in Jira, not the standard process.
-
Some features took a long time to develop, causing release delays.
-
A few features were put on hold for a month, making it challenging to pick up later.
Outcomes:
-
Gained proficiency in Figma, using comments, exports, and groups for rapid prototyping.
-
Reduced onboarding time.
-
Highlighted Foretell Reality's unique avatar customization features.
-
Significantly decreased onboarding instructions and time.
-
The new modern and clean design is more appealing to new users.
-
Simplified the avatar editing process.
-
Steps are now reported as easy to follow.
-
Enhanced reliability and security with improved terms and conditions.
