BETWEEN THE SUNS 2

Between the Suns pt.2 is an unsettling frozen VR environment you can teleport around and explore. I wanted to make something more photorealistic rather than low poly. I also embraced the blue light for a sci-fi effect.  Inspired by chaotic cities that I’ve lived in and visited, as well as Dr. Strange, and HalfLife Alyx.

FLOATING AND DRIFTING

Traffic goes wild. Buildings start to lift up. I have a love for all things urban-- street signs, traffic lights, fire hydrants. The main element that is confusing is that everything seems frozen amidst the chaos.

LIGHTS ON

I chose unbaked, blue sci-fi lighting for this environment. At first, it was the reflection of a blue skybox. I liked the bright-lit night aesthetic that it gave.

BUILDINGS TO ENTER

How often can you actually enter a building in VR without changing the scene? I saw an opportunity in environment design and made select buildings enterable by flying into them. Or walking, too. Check out the Chinese medicine shack and the church with Portuguese tilework!

MUDDLED PLANETS

The planetary system is in front of your eyes. There are two suns, maybe this is another galaxy. An earth just like ours, but one where the systems are broken. Where things that used to make sense no longer make sense. And the only moving part is the fog and the nebulas.
